China"s public security and education ministries have held an emergency nationwide teleconference in the wake of the latest school violence.
Local departments were instructed to upgrade security. State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, Meng Jianzhu, said at the conference that police should cooperate with education authorities to more rigorously search for security risks around schools.
A statement from the police authority indicates that security in privately-run schools and kindergartens as well as those in remote areas and rural regions should be scrutinized.
