1. President Barack Obama is in the German city of Dresden, a symbol of reconciliation and rebuilding. Obama arrived late Thursday from Cairo where he called for a new beginning in relations between the US and the Muslim world. Many Muslims say it"s a positive shift in US attitude and tone.

2. A Brazilian helicopter crew recovered the first wreckage from Air France Flight 447, but there has been no sign of human remains. The jetliner broke apart, killing all 228 people on board.

3. A 12-year-old boy in Northern Virginia died after being struck by lightning while he was playing catch. The boy"s 11-year-old team-mate was critically injured. Police say the boys were playing catch on a ballfield south of Fredericksburg as severe storms battered the area.

4. The actor known for his role in the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" has died. David Carradine"s body was found in a hotel room in Thailand. Police say he apparently hanged himself.
