第一天：THE NEWSPAPER 报 纸

Nowadays the newspaper possesses considerable value .Everybody should read it. It supplies us with a variety of news every day. It tells us the political situation of the world. If we form the habit of reading the newspaper, we shall (will) get enough knowledge to cope with our circumstances.

现今报纸拥有极大的价值，人人都应该看它。它每天提供我们各种各样的消息。它告诉我们世界政治局势。如果我们养成看报的习惯，我们就能得到足够的知识来适应我们的环境。

第二天：MY DAILY LIFE 我的日常生活

Though my daily life is extremely monotonous, I try hard to adapt myself to it. Why? Because I intend to be a good student. I wish to render service to my country. I get up at six o’clock every day. After I wash my face and brush my teeth, I begin to review my lessons. I go to school at seven o’clock. After school is over, I return home. We usually have supper at seven o’clock. Then I begin to do my homework. I want to finish it before I go to bed.

Do you mind being called a bad student? Of course not. So far as I know, everybody intends to be (become) a model student.However, to be a model student is by no means an easy thing. First, he must do his best to obtain knowledge.A man without sufficient knowledge will not succeed. Secondly, he must remember to improve his health. Only a strong man can do great tasks. Thirdly, he should receive moral education. If his conduct is not good, no one will consider making friends with him.

There is no doubt that happiness is the most precious thing in the world. Without it, life will be empty and meaningless. If you wish to know how to get happiness, you must pay attention to the following two points. First, health is the secret of happiness (the key to happiness). Only a strong man can enjoy the pleasure of life. Secondly, happiness consists in contentment. A man who is dissatisfied with his present condition is always in distress. 无疑，快乐是世界上最宝贵的东西。没有它，人生将是空虚而毫无意义的。如果你希望知道如何获得快乐，你必须注意下面两点：1.健康是快乐的要诀。唯有身体强壮的人才能享受人生的乐趣。2.快乐在于知足。一个不满于现状的人总是处在痛苦之中。

第五天：BOOKS 书 籍

As is well known, books teach us to learn life, truth, science and many other useful things. They increase our knowledge, broaden our minds and strengthen our character. In other words, they are our good teachers and wise friends. This is the reason why our parents always encourage us to read more books. Reading is a good thing, but we must pay great attention to the choice of books. It is true that we can derive benefits from good books. However, bad books will do us more harm than good.

众所周知，书籍教我们学习人生，真理，科学以及其它许多有用的东西。它们增加我们的知识，扩大我们的心胸并加强我们的品格。换句话说，它们是我们的良师益友。这是为什么我们的父母总是鼓励我们要多读书的理由。读书是一件好事，但我们必须多加注意书的选择。不错，我们能从好书中获得益处。然而，坏书却对我们有害无益。

第六天：A TRIP TO THE COUNTRY 乡村游记

One Sunday， my mother (Mother) had (made) me take my little young brother to a trip to the country. She bade me take good care of him. While we were walking along the road, the sun was shining brightly and the breeze was blowing gently. We saw the beautiful flowers smile (smiling) at us and heard the birds sing (singing) their sweet songs on the trees. The scenery was indeed very pretty (beautiful). When we felt tired, we returned home. We saw Mother (our mother) wait (waiting) for us at the door.

一个星期日，我母亲叫我带小弟弟去乡村游玩。她吩咐我要好好照料他。当我们沿着道路行走的时候，太阳灿烂地照耀着，微风轻轻地吹着。我们看见美丽的花儿对我们微笑着，并听见鸟儿在树上唱着悦耳的歌曲，风景十分美丽。当我们感到疲倦的时候，我们就回家了。我们看见母亲正在门口等候我们。

第七天：BE PATRIOTIC 要 爱 国

It is the duty of every citizen to make the country rich and powerful (To make the country rich and strong is...). In order to accomplish this object one must be patriotic (love his country). I consider this an unchangeable

truth.How can a student love his country (be patriotic)? I find my answer very simple and clear. He must study hard and store up knowledge so as to serve his (the) country in the future. If every student can do according to what I said, the country will certainly be rich and powerful.

要使国家富强是每个公民的责任。为了达到这一目的，必须爱国。我认为这是一条不变的定理。一个学生如何才能爱国呢？我发觉答复很简单明了。他必须用功读书并积累知识，以便将来服务国家。如果每个学生都能按照我所说的去做，国家一定会富强。

　 （一） Love and Time

　　Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

　　Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

　　When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

　　Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,

　　"Richness, can you take me with you?"

　　Richness answered, "No, I can"t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

　　Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

　　"I can"t help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

　　Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

　　"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

　　Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

　　Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,

　　Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"

　　"It was Time," Knowledge answered.

　　"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

　　Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

What’s important in our life

1挫折教育的意义 A parent’s worst nightmare is that their child might be hurt. However, being protective of one’s child might cause him or her more harm than good. A "cotton wool culture" is protecting children from risk and failure, and preventing them from learning how to overcome setbacks. Risk and failure are opposite sides of the coin of success and achievement. If we want achievement then we might occasionally fall down.Children shouldn"t believe life is always easy and that things don"t go wrong.Those things do happen in real life. You fail, you strive, you try again. Young people need to take risks. If we avoid risk, if we wrap children in cotton wool,we will have a problem.

2乐于助人的意义 Volunteering gives you a chance to value what you have, and focus on the truly important things in your life. I take active part in community service, which makes me feel good about myself.Volunteering is about giving, but it is also about having a great time – a time to find and experience the meaning and beauty you can bring to others.“Educational” and “enjoyable” – those are the two words that I use to describe my volunteer experience. Just like American President Barack Obama said, “If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope,and you will fill yourself with hope.” That’s how I feel when I think of my experience of helping others.

3积极乐观的意义 We all go through bad times. The trick is to remember things always get better. If your life seems to be going wrong, don"t panic. Just stay positive, see what you can do to turn it around,and have a little faith. The dark times never last. Life is full of ups and downs, so we need to stay positive all the time. Life is not just a bed of roses. There are thorns as well, but these thorns help us become braver, better people. Focus on the things that you can control instead of worrying about possible failures. Try to see the good aspects in every situation; Hang around with optimistic and cheerful people,and they will help you see the brighter side of life.

4学会应对改变的重要性 Changes are always there. We have to be flexible and adapt to our new environment. In face of changes, we should embrace them instead of refusing them. A positive state of mind is of great importance, which can help us to see the bright side of things and see opportunities in every difficulty. We need be well prepared for every possible change. We are supposed to take practical action to adjust ourselves to the new environment or situation.

5知足常乐的重要性 Many people around me focus on what they want instead of what they have. As a result of their endless desires, they are often dissatisfied. In my opinion, we should stay positive and value what we have instead of complaining too much. If we remain grateful for what we already have and what we can fulfill, we may live a happier life.

6学会分析的重要性 Sharing has been a part of my life.Sharing does not only mean sharing actual things, but also sharing feelings and minds. Man is a social being. We can’t live without others. We can’t survive by ourselves. We need to share. We need to share both our tears and laughter.Sharing means honesty and an open heart. After sharing, one piece of happiness turns into two; two pieces of sadness change into one. Without sharing there is no love; without sharing there is no cooperation; without sharing there is no human development; without sharing there is no hope. You and me, one world, one family: come together and learn to share.

7如何缓解与父母的冲突 Parents should help their children make choices instead of replacing them to make choices. Children should learn to respect their parents’ advice since parents tend to have more life experience. Besides, to communicate with each other actively is necessary to their understanding each other. As long as both parents and children learn to think from the other side’s point of view, the conflicts between them can be avoided.

8面对面交流的重要性 For one thing, face-to-face communication allows us to make an interactive conversation. For example, we can clear away the misunderstanding in time. Because a person’s tone of voice or facial expression often reflects his mood, while in other kinds of communication it’s hard for us to perceive the subtle changes of one’s emotion.For another, face-to-face communication can deepen the interpersonal relationship.For instance, trust and respect between businesses partners can be established even with a firm handshake.

9树立人生目标的重要性 Everyone has his ideals. A businessman wishes to make greater profit; a farmer expects good harvests; a student tries to learn more and better. However, one should be sensible about whether his ideal is well founded or not. If it is, one has to plan and work hard for its realization. Effort, skill and persistence are all necessary. And very often, one has to get help from others, including advice and support in one form or another.

10坚持不懈的重要性 Winners never quit and quitters never win. Only people with perseverance can enjoy the sweet fruits of success.Persistence is a necessary quality for success and achieving your dreams. But talent alone does not lead to success. There is a Chinese saying: persistence means victory. Persistence is a pair of wings that can help us fly toward success. When faced with setbacks, stay focused and don’t let the set backs discourage you. No matter how difficult something is, you"ll keep at it to the end. You finish most tasks you start; you don"t give up easily when things go wrong; Instead, you give 100% to a challenging sport or activity.
